About CIR
60 years of advocacy for resident physicians
The Committee of Interns and Residents is the oldest and largest housestaff union in the country, representing more than 14,000 interns, residents, and fellows in California, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, and Washington, D.C.. The organization gives residents with an important voice to improve their salary and working conditions, their education and training, and the quality of care they provide to patients.
CIR members play an active role in advocating for access to care for the uninsured and collaborate with teaching hospitals to better integrate residents into hospital safety and quality improvement projects to increase the value of care provided to patients.
